Quick answers
What's in Nugenix Total-T? Per 3-capsule serving: L-citrulline malate 1,125mg, Tesnor 400mg (pomegranate and cocoa extracts), elevATP 150mg, tongkat ali 100mg, boron 10mg, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and just 1mg of zinc.
Does it work? The evidence for Tesnor rests mostly on a small study the brand cites, the tongkat ali dose is on the low end of research amounts, and citrulline is a blood-flow ingredient rather than a testosterone one. Results vary.
Biggest complaints? Billing and cancellations. The BBB has logged more complaints than customer reviews for the brand.
How much does it cost? $69.99 one-time or $59.49 on auto-ship for a 30-day bottle, about $1.98 to $2.33 a day.

Nugenix is one of the most recognizable testosterone support brands in the country, thanks to years of TV ads and shelf space at stores like GNC and Walmart. Its flagship product, Total-T, was reformulated in 2024 around a branded ingredient called Tesnor.
We sell competing testosterone support products, and we're saying that up front. Here's what's on the Nugenix Total-T label, what the ingredients actually are, what customers report, what it costs, and how it compares.
This article is general information, not medical advice. If you suspect low testosterone, get bloodwork and talk to your doctor.
What's on the Nugenix Total-T label
From the supplement facts panel on Nugenix's product page. Serving size is 3 capsules, 30 servings per 90-capsule bottle.
| Ingredient | Per serving | % DV |
|---|---|---|
| L-Citrulline Malate (2:1) | 1,125mg | * |
| Tesnor | 400mg | * |
| elevATP Blend (ancient peat extract, apple fruit extract) | 150mg | * |
| Eurycoma longifolia (tongkat ali) root extract | 100mg | * |
| Boron (glycinate) | 10mg | * |
| Vitamin B6 | 2mg | 118% |
| Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) | 2.4mcg | 100% |
| Zinc (chelate) | 1mg | 9% |
Other ingredients: gelatin, rice flour, magnesium stearate and silica.
Two things stand out. The largest ingredient by far is citrulline, which is mainly a blood-flow and exercise-performance ingredient, not a testosterone one. And zinc, the mineral most tied to healthy testosterone production, is included at just 1mg, 9% of the daily value.
Nugenix also sells other versions, including Total-T2 and Ultimate. This review covers the current Total-T formula.
What Tesnor and elevATP actually are
Tesnor is a branded ingredient made from pomegranate rind and cocoa seed extracts. It's the centerpiece of the 2024 reformulation. Nugenix promotes a study in which men taking Tesnor saw a large rise in testosterone over eight weeks compared with placebo. That's a single small study, and one study isn't the same as a well-established body of research. Treat the headline numbers with caution until more independent research is available.
elevATP is a branded blend of ancient peat and apple extracts marketed for energy and performance. The research behind it is limited and mostly comes from studies tied to the ingredient's supplier.
Does Nugenix Total-T work?
The honest answer is that the evidence is thin and mixed.
- Tesnor: promising but based largely on limited research promoted by the brand.
- Tongkat ali: one of the better-studied herbs in this category, but most human studies used roughly 200 to 400mg a day. Total-T has 100mg. For more, see our guide to tongkat ali side effects and dosing.
- Boron: 10mg is at the higher end of what's used in research, which has been small and short.
- Citrulline: supports blood flow and exercise performance, not testosterone levels directly.
- Zinc: helps mostly if you're deficient, and 1mg is too little to correct a deficiency.
Like every product in this category, it's most likely to help men whose levels are low to begin with. The only way to know for you is bloodwork before you start and again after about 90 days. For a broader look at what the research supports, see our guide to herbs for testosterone support.
Nugenix reviews and complaints
Retail ratings are decent. Nugenix Total-T has averaged around 4.3 stars across thousands of reviews on Amazon, helped by its big retail footprint.
The complaint record is a different story. The Better Business Bureau has logged more complaints than customer reviews for Nugenix, with recent counts of 75 complaints closed in a year against 55 reviews. The most common themes are billing problems and difficulty cancelling auto-ship orders.
What positive reviews say: more energy and drive, often after a few weeks. What negative reviews say: no noticeable change, and frustration with subscriptions.
How to avoid billing problems: buy one bottle one-time, or buy from a retailer where you control the reorder. If you use Refill & Save, read the terms and set a reminder before the next ship date.
Nugenix Total-T price per day

| BCN Hammer, one-time | $42.00 | $1.40 |
| BCN Hammer, subscription | $35.70 | $1.19 |
Nugenix prices checked October 2026 from nugenix.com and subject to change. Buying multiple Nugenix bottles one-time doesn't lower the per-bottle price.
Nugenix side effects
- Digestive upset is the most commonly reported issue with formulas like this.
- Tongkat ali can cause trouble sleeping, restlessness or irritability in some men, though 100mg is a modest dose.
- Boron at 10mg is on the high side, so don't stack it with another boron supplement.
- Medications: talk to your doctor first if you take blood pressure medication, are on TRT, or have a hormone-related condition.
The same caution applies to any testosterone support product, including ours. Hammer contains 50mg of zinc, which is above the 40mg daily upper limit set for adults, so don't add a separate zinc supplement on top of it, and check your multivitamin.
Nugenix Total-T vs Blue Collar Nutrition Hammer
| BCN Hammer | Nugenix Total-T | |
|---|---|---|
| Serving | 2 tablets, before bed | 3 capsules |
| Tongkat ali (longjack) | 400mg | 100mg |
| Zinc | 50mg | 1mg |
| Maca | 250mg | None |
| Ginseng | 125mg blend (Asian, Eleuthero) | None |
| Circulation ingredient | L-arginine 250mg | L-citrulline malate 1,125mg |
| Branded ingredients | None | Tesnor 400mg, elevATP 150mg |
| Supporting herbs | 745mg Male Vitality Blend (tribulus, muira puama, catuaba, nettle and more) | None |
| One-time price | $42.00 | $69.99 |
| Subscription price | $35.70 | $59.49 |
Where Hammer stands out: four times the tongkat ali, real zinc instead of a token amount, maca and ginseng, and a price about $28 lower per bottle. It's built to be taken before bed, when much of the body's natural hormone activity happens.
Where Nugenix is different: it's built around branded ingredients rather than traditional herbs, prints every ingredient amount individually, and includes a larger dose of citrulline. Hammer groups its supporting herbs, including its boron, inside a 745mg blend, while its headline ingredients (longjack, maca, ginseng, zinc, L-arginine) are printed separately.
If you want daytime support too, Overdrive Men's is taken in the morning with every dose printed, and the Rock-Hard Pack combines Hammer, Overdrive Men's and N.O. Flow across the full day. The Rock-Hard formula breakdown explains the timing.
Who each one fits
- Hammer if you want a meaningful tongkat ali dose, zinc, maca and ginseng in a before-bed formula at $42 or $35.70 on subscription.
- Nugenix Total-T if you specifically want Tesnor and a higher citrulline dose, and the price fits your budget.
- Neither yet if you haven't had bloodwork. Clinically low testosterone is a doctor's conversation, not a supplement one.
More tongkat ali. Less money.
400mg longjack, maca, ginseng and zinc, taken before bed. $42 one-time or $35.70 on subscription. Hormone-free, third-party tested, made in the USA with global ingredients.
